The Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA) has a strong reputation for creativity with both the art world and the public at large and is well established through exhibitions of its members paintings and the reproductions of their originals as Christmas cards and a variety of other products. In this unique video, UK artists from the Association are interviewed about their extraordinary artistic achievements and what it means to belong to the MFPA. Also featured is Eric Stegmann, the MFPA's visionary and founder as he sculptures his self-portrait out of clay with his mouth. Against a backdrop of some powerful paintings, radiating the power of their creators, we learn how all his life Stegmann refused to let his disability get in the way of his creativity. Stegmann resolutely believed that if disabled artists with talent equal to that of able-bodied professional artists could form a partnership to have their work published, each artist could achieve personal financial independence and a valuable place in the community otherwise denied them. Now captured on video, Stegmann's legacy lives on. The MFPA gallery in Selborne, near Alton, Hampshire, the only gallery in Britain dedicated solely to exhibiting work from disabled artists, is shown on film for the first time.
