THE WIZARD OF WAUKESHA For sale is a rare 16mm color print of the documentary film LES PAUL - THE WIZARD OF WAUKESHA. Released in 1980, running time approximately 59 minutes. On one 2000 foot reel, in a plastic can. Synopsis: Les Paul "and his band of renown" are shortened to simply the renowned Les Paul in this entertaining and informative documentary on one of the long-lasting talents in the music business. Excerpts from Les Paul's popular performances on radio in the 1930s highlight his quick rise to fame. His years with Fred Waring and recordings with his wife Mary Ford are balanced against his successes in designing electric guitars and one of his better-known inventions, the eight-track recording system. As urbane and versatile in person as his accomplishments suggest, Les Paul's own accounting of his past and snippets at the guitar round out this excellent documentary. Condition: Color is excellent. There appear to be no splices. Stock appears to be polyester & LPP. Original, and uncut heads and tails. The only fault is a light to moderate emulsion scratch for the first 5 minutes or so of the film. The scratch is not stationary, it moves side to side. It mostly shows as a light black line, but occasionally breaks into the emulsion. Once this scratch goes away the remainder of the film is fine.
